“Each day the people are to go out and gather their daily portion; thus will I test them to see whether they follow my instructions or not.”             Exodus 16:4

 

    God frowns upon it when we take or keep more than we need. When the Israelites gathered more than their daily portion of manna, that which they hoarded away became wormy and rotten. In the same way, God calls us today to be content with a fair portion and to be willing to share the rest.

There are many ways you can support our Parish. Through your Stewardship this can be done with your Time, your Talent, or your Treasure.

Your contributions become a Treasure. You enable us to do so much for the Parish Community. First and foremost are the funds needed to complete the plans for our New Site Project. Of course the ministries of our Parish are always in need of your financial assistance. Some of the ministries and organizations include: Ministry of Caring, Youth Mission Trips, Migrant Workers, Knights of Columbus Seminarian's Dinner, The St. Bernard's School and the Parish Fall Festival.

WEEKLY OFFERTORY ENVELOPES FOR KIDS

This is a great tool to assist parents in teaching the stewardship way of life to their children. It instills in them, at a young age, the importance of sharing their God given gifts of time, talent, and treasure with others.  Each child that participates will receive his or her own personal box of colorful envelopes that will last for an entire year. On each envelope is space for the child to write how they used their time and talent for others during the past week. Or, if appropriate, the child can indicate his or her share of treasure they are placing in the envelope for others. 

 

The children will place their envelopes in the regular collection just like mom and dad. This is a great way for  kids to become more actively involved in the Sunday liturgy.  The boxes of envelopes are now here in the Parish Office, you may stop by and pick yours up anytime during Office Hours.  If you did not sign up, you may still stop by the Parish Office and pick up a box.

 

All temporal and spiritual goods

are created by and come from God!

 

     This is true of everything human beings have; spiritual gifts like faith, hope, and love; talents of body and brain; cherished relationships with family and friends; material goods; the achievements of human genius and skill; the world itself. One day God will require an accounting of the use each person has made of the particular portion of these goods entrusted to him or her.

 

     Each will be measured by the standard of his or her individual vocation. Each has received a different “sum” – a unique mix of talents, strengths, potential modes of service and response-on which the Master expects a return. He will judge individuals according to what they have done with what they were given.

 

     What does all this say to busy people immersed in practical affairs? Is it advice only for those who vocations lead them to withdraw from the world? Not as Jesus sees it: “But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be given you besides” (MT6:33).

     For the past 5 years St. Bernard’s has been conducting a Capital Campaign to raise the funds necessary to respond to the needs of this Parish by building another place for our people to gather as one in worship. The new multi-purpose facility “Holy Family Center” is the first phase of a multi-phased project.

 

     We need every family to participate to the best of their ability in this Campaign. This project depends on everyone’s support; please make your pledge commitment today!
